Diamond Inferno Slot Game
This slot game from Triple Edge Studios for the exclusivity of Microgaming Casinos is another such commission we have been seeing quite a few of as of late. The slot does not have much of a theme in itself, but concentrates mainly on keeping the player connected with its changing interface and flaming backdrop which from time to time engulfs the reels with its tongues of fire. The music is equally captivating, the riff is rock , non too heavy. The kind you would want to listen to, were you on the road driving off to somewhere you really want to be and in a car you love driving. So let’s take a closer look at what this slot game is all about.
The Slot Game Overview
Diamond Inferno is not a theme slot and is based on the classic casino icons with the all too familiar traditional symbols such as the Lucky Sevens, Bars, Stars, Dice and Dollar Sign for the higher value symbols and the black jack cards for the lower ones. A minimum of three matching symbols are needed to create one of the 20 winning combinations the reels contain on the base game grid of 5 reels on 3 rows, but as the wins commence the rows are entended and more win lines are added to a maximum of 50 zig-zagging winning combinations. Flaming Wilds appear- sometimes stacked, on reels 2-3 and 4 and substitute for all cards- except the scatter. These help create or complete winning combinations.
Expanding reels and increasing paylines
Diamond Inferno starts off with the standard of 3 rows on 5 reels. However what becomes immediately apparent is that the grid is split into two segments of 3 rows each, the upper and the lower, of which the latter is active and the former is not. During the base game the 3 active lower rows hold 20 paylines. These are increased by an additional ten more paylines as the reels are expanded with every win line achieved and a free spin is awarded. This is repeated until the grid has fully expanded and all of the 6 rows on the reels become active increasing the number of winlines to 50, or when there are no more wins and the reels are once again reverted to the original base game format of 3 rows where everything begins once more from the start.
Microgaming’s Multiplier Trail
Once the grid has been expanded to its full extent and another winning combination is landed on the fully extended play format, the free spins will continue to be awarded and at the same time the Multiplier Trail kicks in. This is typical Microgaming mechanics and it begins with a 2x multiplier and increases to 3x and 5x with each consecutive win until it reaches a maximum multiplier of 10 and is applied to all wins from the current spins.
Blue Diamond Scatters
The Blue Diamond Scatters in this slot only appear on the middle reels, namely 2-3 and 4 and when they do appear on active rows, they don’t trigger any special feature, or free spins for that matter, instead they reward players with direct pay outs whose value depends on which of the 6 rows the scatters fall on as each scatter pays out individually. 1x, 2x. 4x, 6x, 10x and up to 20x the staked bet for a maximum of 6 Blue diamond scatters on the sixth row during the fully extended free spin feature. A minimum of three symbols is required for a scatter payout to be affected.
Our thoughts exactly!
Diamond Inferno is a classic unpretentious, theme-less, no nonsense slot game. Its attraction is in its mechanics which although can be rather repetitive and frustrating are also what makes this game tick. The flaming backdrop starts to become more relevant as you watch those reels expand in hope and then revert, over and over, again and again. There are no progressive jackpots here and the grand winnings are hoped to be had on the free spin features. Triple Edge claim a grand potential of 11,700x the bet but with the stated pay table that would be a long shot and even if perhaps the math is there, it seems very unlikely and I wouldn’t use that as the main attraction to draw anyone in. Another stretch of the imagination is the volatility of this slot which is rated as medium volatility. That may very well be the case when the game set is on the base format of 5 by 3, but I’m not so sure if that remains the same when the grid is extended and the game becomes a 5 by 6. More like the classic case of the virgin syndrome I would think ‘On the verge, but never in!’
Diamond Inferno is a medium volatility slot game which Triple Edge Studios has put together rather well. The highlight of the whole experience is no doubt the expanding reels which do not only give this game its original turn but when combined with Microgaming’s very own special features goes to make this collaboration a very interesting one indeed. The game also boasts an RTP of 96.20% which although is rather short of the 97% we were used to not so long ago, is really what one can expect in today’s current releases. The bet range is suitable to most players and can be set anywhere between 0.20 coins and up to a limit of 20 coins and symbol values start at 1.25x the bet for 5 jacks and peak at 100x the stake for a line of 5 stars. The grand potential, statistically, is a very impressive 11,700x the stake and although that may not happen any time soon, the hit frequency of almost one in three, or more precisely at 32.10% is a most attractive one indeed, so perhaps in the long run everything evens out in the end. The math is complicated, but it’s all there and on paper it doesn’t look bad at all. This slot game will be available at selected Microgaming casinos from July 21st 2020, enjoy!
